Your rig and its sleeper cab are your home away from home. Why not make feel like it?
We pride ourselves on providing top-of-the-line trucks for our drivers, but we also know that you might want to make some finishing touches, too. Luckily, there’s lots of fast, easy and inexpensive ways to equip your truck to your liking. In addition to these essential pieces of gear, there’s equipment to make your evenings on the road just like being in your own living room.
Take a look at just a few ways to make your sleeper cab your own. Be sure to let us know if you think we’ve missed anything, too.
Mattress topper. We equip our rigs for top comfort, but you still might feel like customizing your mattress to exactly your liking (don’t worry, we won’t be offended). Treat yourself to an extra layer of memory foam, stay refreshed with a cooling mattress cover, or whatever suits you (and your back). While you’re at it, buy some extra pillows to make your personal space extra comfortable while you’re lounging after a long day. Best of all, mattress toppers are easy to put on and remove when it’s time to clean.
Ribbon LEDs. Your sleeper cab is your home away from home. Why not have some fun with the décor? Line the corners of your sleeper with battery-operated ribbon LEDs. They’re easy to install (and easy to remove), come in different colors, and you can even find color-changing ones that let you instantly change the entire look of your cab. You can also use them to instantly decorate for events and holidays while you’re on the road. Your team is in the playoffs? Switch your lights to their colors to celebrate. It’s Christmastime? Turn them red and green for some joyful cheer. Ribbon LEDs are an instant pick-me-up.
Blackout curtains. We’ve made sure your window coverings are enough to give you some shut-eye, but if you find it’s not quite enough, don’t worry. There’s plenty of blackout curtains on the market designed just for big rigs. In fact, most truck manufacturers sell blackout coverings sized perfectly for their rigs’ windshield and windows. You can put them up in seconds to create a dark and peaceful environment for sleeping…or for just relaxing for a while before heading back out on the road.
Sun shades. On the other hand, you rig can get superheated when it’s parked in the sun. Cooling its cab back down takes a lot of time and gas (and is more harmful to the environment, too). That makes sun shades for your truck a good investment. Their silvery surface reflects the sun’s rays away from your windows, leaving your cab relatively cool and comfortable for when it’s time to get back behind the wheel.
Stick-on lights. There are more ways than just ribbon LEDs to customize the lighting in your sleeper cab. If there’s any nooks and crannies in your cab that aren’t illuminated to your liking, stick-on lights are a fast and easy solution. They’re battery-operated, stick to most smooth surfaces and yes, they’re easy to remove, too. Most click on and off with a simple press of the light itself. Some can even change color, too, like the ones here. They’re perfect if you need a little extra light by your fridge, or in the back corner while you’re reading in bed.
Speakers. For nights on the road, there’s no need to watch a movie with only tinny laptop speakers for sound. Get yourself a Bluetooth speaker or two, and create a surround-sound experience in the comfort of your own sleeper cab. Today’s speakers are lightweight, easy to store while you’re on the move, and recharge from just about any outlet. There’s a wide range of speakers on the market; depending on how much sound quality means to you, you might have to get ready to shell out a few hundred for top-tier ones. If you love music and good movies, though, they’re worth the price.
Your sleeper cab doesn’t have to feel sterile and bland. With a few quick and easy additions, it can be a place you’ll actually look forward to at the end of each day. Here’s some more good news: when you drive for Truline, you’ll look forward to the start of each day, too. Head over to our current job opportunities, and start hauling for us today.
