It’s pretty much a prerequisite to being a truck driver in the Mile High State: you’ll need great driving skills and a sense of adventure. The good news is this: you’ll be able to indulge that sense of adventure in your free time, too.

Colorado is packed with hiking trails, crystal clear waters where fish are begging to be caught, and soaring high mountain peaks waiting to be explored.  It’s truly an outdoor adventurer’s paradise, and a sight for sore eyes for truck drivers aching for a taste of nature.

We’ve gathered up some of the best places near Denver (home of Truline’s Colorado depot) to get out of your rig and enjoy the great outdoors. Read on…

We know, you’re shocked: the Rockies have a wealth of stunning hiking trails. There’s a trail for every skill level, too, so it’s easy to see the mountains for yourself.  Don’t worry: since you might have had enough of steep inclines while you were on the road, we’ve included some trails with gentle slopes, too. Most of these are within a short drive from Denver, but for truck drivers who don’t mind another drive, we’ve included one deep in the Rockies as well.

All those soaring mountains create lots of fresh mountain streams. Those fresh mountain streams flow into rushing rivers, vast lakes and reservoirs. And those bodies of water are teeming with fish.

Best of all, many of them are only a stone’s throw from Denver.  When your work week is over and it’s time to relax, break out your rod and tackle and spend some time on the water (you might want to keep your fishing gear in your truck just in case!).

It’s the Rockies. So it goes without saying: Colorado has long been a skier’s paradise.  Vail, Aspen and Telluride are the ski playgrounds of the rich and famous. If you’re a Truline truck driver, you can spend your vacation slicing down world-class ski slopes.  Don’t worry: if you don’t feel like shelling out a fortune on a pricey lift ticket, there’s several budget-friendly options right at Denver’s doorstep. Here’s our favorites…including Vail if you want to go big.

Camping

If hurtling yourself down a snowy mountain isn’t your idea of fun, Colorado still provides low-key ways to get out in nature. Colorado is full of national parks, and nearly all of them offer camping. So why not get out of your rig and spend a couple of nights under the stars?  Yes, we’ve included campgrounds that allow RVs, for truck drivers who want to revel in nature without sleeping on the ground.

When you’re a Colorado truck driver, you can indulge your sense of adventure on the road and off it.  Why not give the Colorado lifestyle a try?  Check out our current opportunities and start working with Truline today.
